10/28/06 -"Hello Robert,
Forgot to mention that the sign picture has written on the back... This sign is out of Cologne
-it is in regards to the bridges over the Rhine. I have much info that came through Headquarters and would be happy to share. Example... Brief Diary Of Dates And Places For Men Of Dagger Rose.
Researching further I think these photos were taken on May 17,1945 in Kassel,Germany. Dad seemed to regard this as a place of celebration. The photo taken in the train car I am not sure of the location. I think Norman Rockwell could have done a wonderful painting of this moment. As to the names of the men in the pictures I don't know. Would be wonderful to find out. After the war dad was president of the Iowa Timberwolf Association. This web site would mean a lot to him."

02/22/07 -" The pictures that I sent you were taken in Kassel,Germany May 17,1945. It appears to be a time of relaxing and celebration with soldiers enjoying what could be German wine. I do not know the names of the men with my dad but maybe someone remembers that day. I am not sure where they were going from Kassel. I also sent you a picture of a sign that was posted out of Cologne in regards to the bridges over the Rhine. It reads "Over these bridges pass the finest men and equipment in the world. Take care of them... Camouflage."
I have a wonderful scrapbook that dad kept. Very fragile but true to the honor and pride of the Timberwolves. Thank you for the story. My dad would be recognized for his small size but his goodness as well. I appreciate your efforts in honoring these brave men."

02/22/07 -"Hello Robert,
I have e-mailed you before regarding my father 1st Sergeant Burdette Davis. Since then I have found his scrapbook that he kept during the war. He served with the 413th 2nd Bat Headquarters Company as your father-in-law did. Beside photos I have found orders from Dwight Eisenhower, Notes on Brest Operations and more. Wonderful history lesson! Attached are photos of Burdette and his Timberwolf comrades. Any response would be greatly appreciated as I do this in his memory.

Sincerely,
Connie Davis Kendall"
